Anza Borrego State Park

Our final desert destination along the American road trip was Anza Borrego State Park. Once again, we saw that one desert can be very different from the other.

Two short hikes in the park provided two completely different scenery. The first hike took us through a spectacular narrow canyon with steep mud walls. The only color was grayish brown with practically nothing growing. The second little hike was along a trail named the cactus circuit and here the cacti were sometimes so dense that you almost forgot that you were in the middle of the desert.
